I bought my car about 2 and a 1/2 months ago and I have about 4k miles on it now. About a week or so ago it started making it a funny noise. It sounds like a high pitched whistling or screeching sound. It seems like it only does it when I throw it in gear and start going or when I start it up. Idk if its my clutch or maybe something with my transmission. Has anyone ever heard or experienced something that sounds like this?

Thanks

It doesn't do it constantly but it does seem to do it a good bit. Since it doesn't seem to do it all the time I'm not sure if I take it down it'll do it again while they're looking at it.

My bet is that you have a drive belt squealing. Take it to your dealer and have them check the tension.

Hey 08blackout,

I’m not sure if you saw my post on your other thread, but I’d like to get this escalated to the Customer Service Manager for your area and help resolve it. Please make an appointment with your dealer and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can help.

Thanks, I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow. It seems to be getting worse.

So I took my car in last night and they looked at this morning, said they couldn't find anything

If you aren't busy Sunday we should meet up and give me a chance to listen to what you are hearing. You can drive my car as well to see if it sounds differently.

Where you live at? I might be in town this weekend, thought about going home to Pittsburgh, but don't want to risk my car if something is wrong with it.

I am in Vienna and can meet anywhere in between.
Ah okay I'm in Chantilly that's not far. I took it to the dealership today and the guy looked at it put it up on the rack and didn't see anything wrong. We went for a drive and it seemed fine. Not even less than 10 mins after I left the dealership it started doing it again. Took my dad out for a ride but he can't hear it. Seems to do it once I get into 4 gear and up seems like from what I've tried to figure out today.

Does it sound airy and almost like blowing through a straw and only does it in certain gear? Sound like its coming from behind the radio?

I had a few noise that seemed very out of place starting around 200 miles, but maybe it could of been sooner, but surprisingly for me the noise ALMOST went away after about 3k miles. It still happen rarely but when it does happen is not as pronounced or loud at all. I would have to really listen for it with my windows up and radio off. I had hard time figuring out where the noise was coming from at first but later narrowed it down to my tranny. I plan to change out my fluid very soon. I heard amsoil will cure most mt82 noise issues.

Good luck with it. My dealer told me the same. Everything is normal. What can you do when everything else work perfectly.

Yeah it does sound like air blowing through a straw and sounds like its coming from that general area or under the hood. But mine started doing it about 1-2 weeks ago and I have about 4500 miles on it now. And didn't do it before. Idk I just hope it goes away
