Stock they can run low 13's-mid 13's. Occasionally they will hit high 12's, with the perfect driver and perfect weather and time, and with a lot of luck but has happened before.

I have a friend that is a f body freak. Apparently the transams run better because their body and hood is more suited for their factory ram air like intake... but mmff did an article comparing the 2002 camaro to the 2003 cobra and i think they got the ss into the high 12s (maybe 12.9) but it was a manual. Also they have really good drivers doing those tests so a stock auto could run mid 13s and if he spins anywhere in low 14 range. basically it depends on the driver. GOOD LUCK take down the ls1 for all of us here at allfordmustangs

^ I have that issue and was reading on the pot not to long ago lol. The bowtie ran a best of 13.1 while the cobra ran a best of 12.7 that day. The SS certainly can run high 12's with the right racing conditions.

haha i couldnt find that article... i think my z28 friend stole it and burned it after i showed him. He was complaining about it being unfair cuz of the supercharger, and all that crap. Well just recently he raced a 2003 mach 1 for $20 (he was too much of a girl to do the origional $200) from a 40 roll on the highway and lost, now he wants a cobra LMAO

MMFF did an article of the SS vs. the than new Bullit mustang and the SS did a 12.9 in crappy conditions and later put down 320 to the wheels, they said that in better air they were confident that it would have ran 12.7's no prob. I've seen them in the low 13's over here and have even ran a ram air trans am automatic with a catback and CAI and he ran 13.3@106. They're potent machines no doubt.

Auto or manual doesn't mean much with the Corvettes. With the C4's at least, there is much less difference in drivetrain loss between the transmissions than with the Mustangs. The C4 w/auto my father owned was the only one I've been in that I had to be careful when passing on 2 lane highways because at 60-65mph if I stomped on it to pass, I'd break the rearend loose and fishtail. Chevy did good with the Corvette.

I have a 2001 WS6 and its completely stock except for a hooker aerochamber muffler and a slp air lid with mac filter, its a 6 spd with factory option aluminum driveshaft and 3:42 gears and I ran 13.14 with 112,000 mi on the beat down LS1 they supposably run very good at high mileage, and its a 6spd. Ive also heard the same about mustangs lower ends being forged and all...but I have a buddy my partner at work he has a 1989 GT and has the gt40 intake,mac,h-pipe, cobra heads or gt 40 heads, 3:73 gears, F cam, I mean everything but he has factory aod auto tranny, and we both went to the track and I ran 13.14 on my first run, and he didnt run any better than 13.90 all night, my tranny broke after 1st run but with nothing I would be 12's...your buddy that ran high 13's in a WS6 must have had a LT1...they ran even mid 13's to low 13's with LT1's when they had headers and tuning done...LS1 from 01-02 in a SS or WS6 has Z06 vette intakes and diff cams so watch out, it takes spray for a 302 to keep up with a stock LS1

how do you "break" a manual trans? Oh....never mind i know why ..
If your friend had 3.73 gears, it prolly woulda been a little closer....and NO it does NOT take spray to keep up with an ls1...that is the most ignorant statement ive ever heard, and the ls1 is the most overrated motor in the world everyone thinks they are the be all end all of gm motors until they get beat by an lt1.

ALSO, forged lower ends dont make horsepower, they just allow for more boost, and nitrous.... ford done right
