Default Wheels conversion (4 to 5 lug)

Hey my '78 II has 4 lug wheels, but I want to use some 5 lug wheels. How do I do that?! Help, thanks.

Converting a II to five lug isn't difficult.

Since hot-rodders and street rodders love our front suspensions so much, there are a plethora of front rotor options from the aftermarket, or you can get a set of five-lug rotors from a 70s Granada, a set of GM Metric calipers, and a set of adapter plates for the Calipers... or the cheapest option would be to have a machine shop re-drill your rotors for the new bolt pattern of your choice.

The rear is a bit more difficult, there are people using Ranger or Aerostar axle shafts (I hear you need two from the same side of certain years to make this work) some people swap rear ends from other cars and cut and weld spring perches, or you can do the machine-shop re-drill thing to the rear axle shafts and drums too...

Or there are always wheel adapters, but most are cheaply made overseas and of questionable reliability...

I had Moser redrill my rear axles for about $150.00 including shipping but it has been a couple of years ago and I bought my front disc from ebay. The one I bought was a basic swap from 4 bolt to a 5 bolt. It was just a matter of repacking the wheel bearings.

I used the whole setup from my 74 gran torino. Sent my stock spidles from my 74 torino and 77 Mustang II to Aero Space. When I bought both set of my set of brakes they were exactly the same.

Your options may be limited by the wheels that you are intending to use. If you are planning on doing a "Granada" brake swap for the front, the rotor size will go from 9" to 11" on the front which will give you a problem if you stick with the stock 13" wheels. If you are sticking with the stock 13" wheels, I would recommend either spacer/adapters or a 5 stud 9" rotor (they are available) for the front and the rear axles re-drilled for the 5 bolt pattern in the rear.

I swapped in a 9" 5-lug rear and bought a set of front rotors that are the same as the stockers, but with the 5-lug pattern. I can't remember the name of the website for the rotors, but I'm sure you can find a set using a google search.
