ok so i just took apart mine and figured out how to do it!!
p.s. i just bought it brand new which you may have to do...

ok..
#1 get a blowdryer and heat it up for like a couple mins. make it REAL hot

#2 get a small knife and stick it in between the silver plastic and the black plastic on the outside edge.. and slowly pry the pieces apart.
the black piece is just a piece of plastic between the painted ford part and the car.

#3 then you have to scrape all the adhesive off. this was the hard part because it is sunken in all the letters.. just scrape it off the top and try and get to top layer off of the letters.

#4 Take 120ct sand paper and sand off the paint. First it is gray, then you get to the blue, then it turns a dullish clear. make sure to get the outside line too. you can just flip it over to see what blue is left. it is easier to rip of tiny pieces of sand paper then use those and throw them away when they turn blue..

#5 get a couple cuetips. get one wet and clean off the inside where you just sanded. this should get off all the dust. then take a dry one and dry it all up. when you turn it over you should see the silver ford letters and clear plastic. then take a small paintbrush and a local house paint. carefully paint the top black and turn it over to make sure you didnt miss any spots.

#6 once the paint has dried.. take the black plastic piece and glue it back on. i used "liquid nails" which worked really good. pretty much any goopy stuff that will dry really good will work.

THEN YOU ARE DONE!! here is a pic of mine.. :bounce2:

you can paint it any color.. haha just i did mine black..
if you want yours red or white thats cool.

make sure it is a good paint.
what you can also do is tape off the outside edge and spray the
inside with spray paint.
ENJOY! :yelpleased:

Very Nice. This is something I have wanted to do for some time. Thanks for posting the step by step how to.

But... it's THE Blue Oval... why would you ever want to change that?

That's hurting my Ford Pride!!
