What's up with these guys?

Yesterday I'm at a light and this dodge nitro rt pulls up and says "nice car" then goes on about racing him and going on and on about how his car's an RT and can easily beat me.

It's 4:30 in the afternoon, pouring rain, I'm not racing anyone.

He goes tearin of when the light changes (unimpressively btw) and starts fish tailing and then a cop two lights down headin the other way pulls him over.


Today, I'm on the highway, dodge nitro rt starts tailgatin me then pulls up next to me and honks 3 times, we were alone on the road so I just pulled away from em.

Went home looked up these cars, even with mods, they aren't that impressive and they are heavy as hell.

If it was a Jeep SRT8 that'd be another story...

Yeah, like most of Dodge's RT cars these days, they are just a trim level. For actual performance, It has to say SRT.

dodge's performance cars in general (with the exception of the viper and maybe the challenger) are an absolute joke

looked up on dodge's website dodge nitro with the upgraded 4.0 v6 does a whopping 0-60 in 10.1 seconds.

Nearly anything that says SRT on it is pretty stout. Even the SRT4 Neons are capable of thirteens with traction. The Challenger, Cherokee, Charger, 300, and Magnum all use the same 6.1 liter 425 horsepower Hemi. And of course the Viper is a 600 horse beast.

I layed the smack down on a Charger SRT-8 coming home from the dream cruise a few months ago, twice, both from dead stops at lights.... I wasn't impressed.

I've beat a couple at the track too. Still, they're nice cars. More of a big, fast cruiser than a street/strip type car like Mustangs have always been. Stock for stock, they're faster than our cars.

No way dude, a stock GT will DESTROY a stock Nitro. A Nitro R/T weighs a ton man... It'll do 0-60 in 7.7 seconds...

dodges are jokes when it comes to performance, they are mostly family cars. apart from the challenger srt and the viper srt, they really should have no business racing, true muscle cars...

i dont think a bigol engine makes it a tru muscle car, when you take into account that most of them are automatic

Ive seen some Nasty Trailblazer SS and Jeep SRT8s at the track running low 12s n one TrailBlazer SS hit a 11.9

i dont think that 435hp is respectable number for a 6.1L motor
and chevy make a 7.0L with only 505hp for the corvette

there are 4.6L motors that make that kind of power with stock internals

what if for made a 7.0L motor i wonder how much power would that thing push out

I'd just rev my engine and get them all excited and watch them peel out and take off while I sat there laughing! Once I had a Neon SRT try that and I was in the right lane and he burned his tires taking off and I turned right!

We'll just see what happens with Fiat saying they want to turn Dodge into the performance division. I'd venture to say that a V6 with just bolt ons would walk all over that car. I've never come across one, but wouldn't be worried at all.

SRT8 chargers aint no joke for real. i was messin with this one kid the other day he looked emo cruisin one around and i started to mess with him(im stock btw) i knew what i was gettin into but i said the hell with it we raced from a 10 smoked him idk how or why he had no chance of catching up. he prolly miss shifted and then second one was a dig. had him for about two lenths til 80 to 90 he caught up and left me like i was standing still. oh well.
